Aeva Technologies Inc. shares fell Friday morning after short-seller Fugazi Research published a critical report, labeling the stock "uninvestable at any price." We have contacted Aeva for comment on the short report, but the company did not respond immediately.

Here's what investors need to know.

Aeva Technologies stock is among the weakest performers today. What is dragging AEVA shares lower?

Valuation Inconsistent with AI Claims

The report argues that Aeva's $1.3 billion market capitalization is completely inconsistent with its underlying business. Fugazi describes Aeva as a pre-commercial LiDAR developer disguised as a scaled AI platform.

The short-seller points to the company's history of net losses, including cumulative losses of $447 million over the past three fiscal years, as well as a loss of $114.6 million in the first half of 2026, against revenue of just $12.4 million over the same period.

"Proximity Valuation" and Insider Selling

Fugazi accuses Aeva of relying on "proximity valuation," boosting its share price through high-profile announcements with partners such as NVIDIA, Daimler, and hyperscalers, without generating meaningful recurring revenue.

The short-seller notes that Aeva does not fund itself through operations but relies on continuous equity dilution, including a $115 million raise in June 2026.

Additionally, the report highlights nearly $12 million in executive insider stock sales, which occurred during a share price rally following an optical connectivity announcement in August.

AEVA Shares Fall Friday Morning

AEVA Price Action: As of Friday's writing, Aeva Technologies stock was down 2.76% at $18.36.
