Akash to Migrate Blockchain Infrastructure to Solana Within 24 Months

PANews, November 3 - According to Tech in Asia, decentralized computing marketplace Akash Network announced that, following community approval, it will migrate its blockchain infrastructure to Solana within 24 months. Approximately 97% of voting token holders supported the plan, with Akash Marketplace, AkashML, and Akash Homenode launching natively on Solana. Akash cited Solana's low transaction costs, strong liquidity, and access to a large on-chain user base as reasons for the migration.

This migration will replace Akash's Cosmos-based chain, extending beyond tokens to include the underlying blockchain infrastructure. Existing AKT holders can exchange tokens for SPL AKT at a 1:1 ratio via a dedicated portal. The plan has passed on-chain governance. The report notes that this move aligns with Solana's positioning in the DePIN sector, covering computing power and physical infrastructure.
