TJX Companies, Inc. reported encouraging second-quarter results on Wednesday.
Net sales rose 5% year-over-year to $15.18 billion, beating analyst expectations of $15.17 billion. Adjusted diluted earnings per share increased 11% to $1.22, surpassing the $1.19 estimate.
TJX raised its fiscal 2027 GAAP EPS guidance from $5.08-$5.15 to $5.31-$5.36. The new guidance range is above the $5.21 analyst estimate. However, adjusted EPS guidance of $5.15-$5.20 came in below the $5.22 analyst estimate.
TJX also raised its adjusted pre-tax margin outlook to 12%-12.1% and maintained its comparable sales growth guidance of 3%-4%.
TJX Companies, Inc. CEO and President Ernie Herrman said: "I am very pleased with our second-quarter performance, which exceeded our plans. Overall comparable sales grew 4%, ahead of our plan, and profitability and earnings per share both far exceeded our expectations. While Marmaxx sales came in below our expectations, HomeGoods, TJX Canada, and TJX International all delivered excellent comparable sales growth of 6%-7%, highlighting the strength of our globally diversified business."
TJX shares fell 2.3% on Thursday, trading at $141.28.
Analysts Adjust Price Targets
Following the earnings release, these analysts adjusted their price targets on TJX.
Evercore ISI Group analyst Michael Binetti maintained an Outperform rating on the stock, lowering the price target from $175 to $173.
Wells Fargo analyst Ike Boruchow maintained an Equal-Weight rating, cutting the price target from $160 to $140.
Barclays analyst Adrienne Yih maintained an Overweight rating, reducing the price target from $190 to $188.
