PANews, September 16 - According to CoinDesk, Bitcoin Core 32.0 entered its final testing phase on September 14, with the official release scheduled for October 10. This version does not change Bitcoin's consensus rules. Key updates include: a new second fee estimator that references current pending transactions, allowing fee suggestions to be adjusted downward more quickly when network congestion eases; and nodes can now use multi-threading to fetch transaction data from the database when checking blocks, defaulting to eight threads to reduce disk wait time.

On the security front, developers fixed a vulnerability affecting non-Windows systems since Bitcoin Core 24.0: an authenticated user with wallet creation permissions could execute commands under specific conditions via specially crafted wallet names, requiring the walletnotify feature to be enabled. Meanwhile, four commands used to create partially signed transactions will now default to the PSBT version 2 format, and related services need to ensure compatibility. Additionally, a memory exhaustion risk was discovered in the new web server during an audit, where 16 unauthenticated REST connections could push node memory from 46MB to approximately 3GB within one minute; this issue was fixed before the version 32 release.
