U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded net outflows of $201.9 million on August 28, ending a nine-day consecutive inflow streak that had been ongoing since mid-August. According to SoSoValue data, this reversal reduced cumulative net inflows to approximately $55.1 billion, with total net assets standing at around $93.9 billion. Decrypt's ETF flow tracker turned its Bitcoin sentiment reading to "bearish" for the day.
The prior performance had been notably strong: Bitcoin ETFs saw cumulative inflows of $800 million over an eight-day winning streak, during which Bitcoin briefly tested the $80,000 level and posted its largest single-day inflow since May, with a peak of over $600 million on August 20.
In contrast, Ethereum ETFs showed no signs of weakness, recording net inflows of $102.1 million on August 28 and extending their inflow streak to ten consecutive days, with cumulative net inflows of approximately $12.9 billion and total net assets of about $13.8 billion.
Amid the divergence in capital flows, Bitcoin pulled back following hawkish remarks from Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh at Jackson Hole, after the rally had previously pushed prices near $80,000. Bitcoin rebounded to around $79,000 over the weekend. Analysts noted that the single-day outflows remain modest relative to cumulative fund sizes, and the interruption of the inflow streak does not necessarily signal a broad reversal in institutional demand.
