[Brazil Raises Fiscal Gap Estimate, Increasing Spending Control Pressure]

(1) The Brazilian government expects to freeze approximately 2.4 billion reais in spending to comply with the 2026 spending cap, compared with a July forecast of freezing approximately 17.9 billion reais.

(2) To meet the 2026 fiscal target, the government expects to freeze approximately 13.6 billion reais in spending, while the July forecast did not anticipate the need to freeze spending.

(3) The government projects a 2026 primary fiscal balance of negative 80.9 billion reais, versus a July forecast of negative 52.0 billion reais.

(4) After incorporating target adjustments, the government projects a 2026 primary fiscal balance of negative 13.6 billion reais, versus a July forecast of positive 10.8 billion reais.

(5) The fiscal gap estimate has widened significantly from previous projections, and attention should now turn to the Brazilian government's balancing act between spending controls and fiscal revenue.
