ByteDance Seed Establishes Dedicated Model Safety and Alignment Department

PANews, October 13 - ByteDance Seed recently issued an internal email announcing the establishment of a "Seed Model-Alignment&Preparedness" department, led by Yan Lin, reporting to Seed head Wu Yonghui. The original Responsible AI team and some members of the Chat team will be transferred to the new department. The department aims to strengthen investment in safety and alignment, with the core of alignment being to keep model behavior consistent with human intent and safety constraints, thereby enhancing the safety capabilities of Agent Models and mitigating risks from frontier capabilities such as CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear).
