ByteDance's Video Generation Model Seedance Sees Overseas Revenue Share Reach 50%

"Intelligent Emergence" exclusively learned that ByteDance's video generation model Seedance has seen its overseas revenue share reach 50%. A source close to Volcano Engine revealed that Seedance's overseas market revenue has grown nearly 5-fold over the past six months, making overseas markets a key region for the model. In February this year, Seedance 2.0 received a cease-and-desist letter from the Motion Picture Association over generated content involving Hollywood copyrighted characters, and both parties signed a global memorandum of understanding on August 17. Subsequently, with the release of Seedance 2.5, the Motion Picture Association specifically acknowledged ByteDance's progress in intellectual property protection. In August, Disney and TikTok reached a global short-form video content partnership, allowing creators to legally use characters and clips from hundreds of titles in the library, including Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, and FX, for derivative works, distributed across TikTok and Disney+'s vertical-screen channel Verts, initially piloting in the U.S. before rolling out globally. Domestically, internet companies remain Seedance's primary customers. Insiders said that by token consumption and revenue contribution, Tencent ranks among the top three customers in China, with Bilibili entering the top ten. The share of physical industry customers has exceeded one-quarter, covering sectors such as manufacturing, new retail, commercial services, education, healthcare, communications, automotive, and energy. Volcano Engine President Tan Dai stated at the FORCE conference in June this year that he hopes Seedance will enter production environments across industries, especially high-end productivity manufacturing. This year, Volcano Engine established a frontier deployment engineering team, delving into industries such as automotive, healthcare, and education.
