CFTC Chairman Mike Selig said Thursday that the United States has crossed the threshold of a new financial frontier driven by blockchain, artificial intelligence, and prediction markets.

Speaking at the first meeting of the CFTC's Innovation Advisory Committee, Selig emphasized that these innovations are inevitable, and the real question is whether the US leads rulemaking or allows other countries to take the lead.
"We have crossed the Rubicon and stand at the new frontier of finance," he added. "We can be optimistic about the future, or we can be fearful of it."

Earlier this week, Trump hosted a cryptocurrency summit at the White House, inviting Selig and SEC Chairman Paul Atkins, urging Congress to pass the CLARITY Act. He described CLARITY as "strong, structured legislation" that would keep the US ahead of China.
