Data provider FINTRX tracking shows that in August, family offices participated in a total of 109 deals, with the disclosed total financing amount for related transactions reaching $16.9 billion. Among these, follow-on funding rounds—where family offices continue to invest in companies they already hold—accounted for 27% of the transaction volume. This indicates that, compared with continuing to invest in existing projects, family offices were more active in seeking out and investing in new projects. The most active institution in August was a16z Perennial. Founded in 2022, a16z Perennial is a joint family office under venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, providing wealth management and investment services to its core partners Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, as well as the entrepreneurs they support. As of the end of 2025, a16z Perennial managed regulatory assets of approximately $2.74 billion. In August, a16z Perennial participated in 17 deals, ranking first; the total disclosed scale of the related funding rounds reached approximately $10.45 billion. Ranking second was YZi Labs, under Binance founder CZ. YZi Labs manages over $10 billion in assets globally, with investment coverage spanning Web3, artificial intelligence, healthcare, and other sectors, and invests in startups at various stages of development. In August, YZi Labs participated in 10 deals, second only to a16z Perennial; however, the total scale of the funding rounds involved in these transactions was $42.1 million, with a significant presence in large funding rounds sized at hundreds of millions or even billions of dollars. It should be specifically noted: the above amounts refer to the combined financing scale of all investors in the relevant funding rounds, not the actual capital contribution of the family offices themselves. Due to the highly private nature of family office investments, the specific investment amount of a single family office in each transaction is typically difficult to obtain.
