Ethereum surged 19% over the past 24 hours, with prominent anonymous trader DonAlt setting a target range of $4,000 to $10,000 for this rally.
DonAlt stated in a post on X that his target for Ethereum is $4,000, with a goal of $10,000 if the price holds strong at that level.
"I'll probably sell mid-rally like I always do, you'll say I'm washed, and the cycle repeats," he wrote.
He expects the crowd to say he's wrong regardless, adding that nothing ever changes in how these cycles unfold.
The veteran trader has gained recognition for publicly calling the breakout, despite criticism from bearish analysts.
OVcrypto noted on X that Ethereum is beginning to break its nine-year downtrend against Bitcoin, and if confirmed, this structural shift would mark one of the most significant ratio moves in cryptocurrency history.
Ethereum ETF Net Inflows Near 2026 Weekly Record
As of August 19, Ethereum ETFs absorbed $291.47 million in inflows, with two trading days still remaining, making it the strongest week of the year.
Net inflows on August 19 alone reached $189.15 million, led by BlackRock's ETHA fund contributing $122.12 million, according to SoSoValue data.
The week is on track to approach the 2026 record of $479.04 million set during the week ending January 16.
What Derivatives Data Shows
Ethereum open interest rose 9.70% to $3.022 billion, according to Coinglass data, indicating traders are rebuilding positions rather than staying on the sidelines.
Volume surged 337.62% to $119.49 billion, with options volume up 411.74%, confirming genuine volatility expansion.
Of the $1.18 billion liquidated over the past 24 hours, $1.04 billion came from trapped short positions, while longs lost only $134.58 million.
Position data further confirms this: the long/short ratio stands at 1.07, with top traders' long bets growing at a faster pace than retail participants.
Ethereum Price Analysis: $2,125 Support, $2,317 Resistance
ETH was quoted at $2,289 on Thursday, breaking above the 200-day moving average of $2,125 for the first time since the January high near $3,400.
The parabolic SAR turned bullish at $1,856, well below the current price, with the 20-day, 50-day, and 100-day moving averages all stacked below as new support, forming the first clear bullish structure in months.
Holding above $2,125 on any pullback confirms the breakout. A break below that level would stall the rally.
Ethereum Key Levels:
$2,317 — intraday high, immediate resistance
$2,125 — 200-day moving average, must hold as new support
