EUR/USD slipped after a brief touch of three-month highs, failing to hold above the 1.1700 mark, with the pair currently trading around 1.16835. A dollar rally fueled by rising yields emerged as the primary drag on the euro, leaving the pair to close within a familiar range near its opening level.

**Dollar rebound halts euro's short-term uptrend**

The euro had earlier benefited from safe-haven inflows amid dollar-system turmoil, climbing to multi-month peaks. However, a shift in market sentiment during the latest session revived dollar buying, erasing all of the euro's gains by Thursday's close. Market signals indicate the euro's failure to sustain momentum above 1.1700 has turned this level into short-term resistance.

**Technical focus shifts to key support**

From a technical standpoint, 1.1700 now serves as a pivotal bull-bear battleground. A decisive break below this level could amplify downside risks, with the next key support seen at 1.1600. On the upside, buyers need to reclaim 1.1769 to alleviate selling pressure, with further targets pointing toward 1.1837. The pair's current consolidation near 1.16835 suggests the market is still digesting the impact of the dollar's rebound.

**Macro uncertainty steers near-term outlook**

The euro's recent trajectory remains closely tied to global markets' reassessment of dollar creditworthiness. As previously reported by Xinhua, EUR/USD had surged from 1.16 to above 1.20 in early 2026, reflecting deep anxieties over U.S. policy direction. Yet, the latest dollar strength implies that, absent fresh catalysts, the euro may struggle to stage a trend reversal and could continue oscillating within the current range.
