The euro recorded modest gains against the Swiss franc on Thursday, with the pair spiking to near 0.9433 following the Swiss National Bank's monetary policy decision before easing slightly to trade around 0.9415 at press time. EUR/USD was last quoted at 1.13767.

**Swiss Central Bank Decision Triggers Short-Term Volatility**

After the SNB's latest rate decision, the franc weakened in the short term, driving EUR/CHF sharply higher to hit the day's peak. Market repricing of the SNB's policy path served as the primary trigger for the day's exchange rate fluctuations. The SNB had previously maintained a vigilant stance against franc appreciation for an extended period, and the shift in the statement's language this time prompted franc bulls to temporarily step aside.

**German IFO Data Provides Support**

Germany's latest IFO business climate data came in solid, lending support to the euro's overall trajectory. Market reports indicated that improving German economic data helped ease concerns over eurozone growth and indirectly curbed further expansion of safe-haven franc buying. EUR/CHF held onto most of its gains after the data release, with no significant pullback.

**Policy Divergence in Focus Ahead**

Analysts noted that the short-term direction of EUR/CHF still hinges on the degree of policy divergence between the SNB and the European Central Bank. If the SNB signals more easing while eurozone data continues to improve, the pair could consolidate further above 0.94. However, the franc's safe-haven appeal could reassert itself if risk sentiment deteriorates, capping upside for EUR/CHF.
