EUR/USD is currently trading near 1.16746, with the pair supported by broad dollar weakness and improving eurozone economic data. In the latest report, BBH analyst Elias Haddad noted that stronger-than-expected eurozone August Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) data provided upward momentum for the euro, with the composite PMI climbing to a nine-month high, primarily driven by the manufacturing sector.
**Improved Data Offers Short-Term Support**
The report shows that leading indicators across the eurozone are broadly signaling a recovery. In addition to PMI data, several indicators, including Germany's IFO Business Climate Index and ZEW Economic Sentiment Index, point to improved economic activity. This series of data has alleviated some market concerns over the eurozone's economic outlook, and combined with an overall weaker dollar index, has jointly driven EUR/USD higher in recent sessions.
**Upside Potential May Remain Limited**
Despite the strong short-term data, BBH remains relatively cautious about the scope for further euro appreciation. Elias Haddad believes that the recovery signals in the eurozone economy are not yet sufficient to support a sustained and significant upward trend in EUR/USD. Market reports suggest that, until the policy paths of major global central banks become clearer, the exchange rate may continue to fluctuate within a certain range, and investors should monitor the consistency of upcoming economic data and further developments in dollar movements.
