The euro extended its rebound against the pound on Wednesday, marking a fifth consecutive session of gains. Final eurozone inflation data confirmed rising price pressures in July, providing additional support for the single currency. The pair has climbed to a session high of 0.8560 after rebounding from last week's low near 0.8530, and is currently trading around 0.85607.

**Inflation Data Bolsters Euro Support**

The latest final eurozone inflation figures confirmed that price pressures are picking up, reinforcing market expectations that the European Central Bank may maintain a relatively hawkish policy stance. In contrast, while UK economic data has shown some improvement recently, it has not been enough to reverse the pound's relative weakness against the euro. The inflation differential has become the core factor driving the currency pair in the near term.

**Renewed Appeal of Eurozone Assets**

The euro has been strengthening across multiple currency pairs recently, not merely relying on weakness in its counterparts. According to market analysis, global investors are increasingly turning to euro-denominated assets in their search for alternatives to the US dollar, with continued fund inflows into core eurozone fixed income products such as German Bunds. This trend provides broader background support for the euro crosses, including EUR/GBP.

**Near-Term Technical Bias Turns Bullish**

From a technical perspective, EUR/GBP has broken through multiple near-term resistance levels since rebounding from support near 0.8530, with the 0.8560 level now serving as a position for bulls to defend. A firm hold above this level could see the pair test higher resistance zones ahead. However, sustained euro strength may also raise concerns about export competitiveness, which could act as a potential constraint on further upside.
