November 1 — According to the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), North Korea is responsible for the theft of over $6 billion in virtual assets from Binance, which occurred around October 29. The FBI has referred to the related cyber activity as "TraderTraitor."
The FBI stated that, in coordination with the U.S. Secret Service and the IRS Criminal Investigation division, it observed that the individuals involved primarily converted the stolen assets into ETH, with expectations of further laundering through DeFi and instant exchange services. The three agencies have called on node operators, instant exchange platforms, DeFi services, and other virtual asset service providers to block transactions related to or originating from the listed addresses involved in the incident.
