[Germany's 2026 Federal Bond Issuance Hits Record, 2027 Financing Needs Continue to Rise]

(1) Germany's federal debt agency disclosed on Thursday that the federal government's bond issuance is expected to reach €522 billion in 2026, setting a historic high, with overall financing needs continuing to rise in 2027.

(2) This year, Germany's debt repayment obligations amount to €306 billion, with a large stock of existing debt requiring refinancing. Coupled with a slight increase in net borrowing under the federal budget and expanding funding demands from special funds, this collectively drives up total issuance volume.

(3) An agency official stated that Germany's fiscal policy is currently in an expansionary phase, with new funds primarily directed toward infrastructure and defense. The market recognizes that these investments help maintain the country's long-term solvency.

(4) This month, a European rating agency confirmed Germany's top-tier AAA sovereign rating. Despite recent selling pressure on German bonds due to Middle East tensions, the 10-year Bund yield briefly exceeded 3.5%, reaching a 17-year high.

(5) The Middle East conflict has raised inflation risks, and the European Central Bank has raised policy rates twice this year, steadily increasing Germany's government debt financing costs.
