Gold prices in India rose on Friday, with all units of measurement posting slight gains, according to data compiled by FXStreet.
**India Local Gold Prices Edge Higher**
FXStreet data showed that gold in India was quoted at 6,282.77 Indian Rupees (INR) per gram on Friday, up 0.86 INR from Thursday's 6,281.91 INR. The price per tola rose to 73,273.94 INR from 73,270.93 INR. The price per 10 grams stood at 62,821.65 INR, and per troy ounce at 195,415.10 INR. FXStreet calculates these prices by converting the international US Dollar price to INR using the day's exchange rate, noting that rates are for reference only and local rates may vary.
**International Gold Prices Also Strengthen**
In the international market, spot gold (XAU/USD) was last quoted at 4,541.00895 USD, moving higher from levels seen earlier before press time. Market reports indicate that rising geopolitical risks and weak US GDP data are providing support for the precious metal, pushing Comex gold prices higher.
**Gold's Safe-Haven Appeal Remains in Focus**
Gold has long been viewed as a safe-haven asset and a hedge against inflation during periods of turmoil. According to data from the World Gold Council, central banks globally are the largest holders of gold. In 2022, central bank net gold purchases reached 1,136 tonnes, the highest annual total on record. Central banks in emerging markets, including China, India, and Turkey, have continued to expand their gold reserves in recent years, further solidifying the long-term demand base for gold.
