Iran's Economy Minister Ali Madanizadeh struck a tough tone on Tuesday, stating that Iran is fully prepared for U.S. economic sanctions. This remark marks an escalation in the economic confrontation between the U.S. and Iran that has lasted nearly six months, with both sides hardening their stances on sanctions and countermeasures.

**Multiple Iranian Departments Issue Dense Warnings**

Madanizadeh's statement is not an isolated event. Reports indicate that Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary Rezaei had previously warned various countries not to participate in the U.S.-launched "economic war" against Iran, or they would be deemed enemies. Rezaei also threatened that if relevant countries refuse to distance themselves from the U.S., Iran would harm their interests and might strike U.S. economic enterprises around Iran and elsewhere. Iran's Foreign Minister Araghchi similarly responded that U.S. economic pressure is an escalation of a failed strategy, destined to encounter further setbacks.

**U.S. Pushes for Comprehensive Economic Isolation**

The U.S. has recently been actively urging allies to join a new round of actions to further isolate Iran's economy. U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent warned that any country maintaining economic ties with Iran would face consequences from Washington, adding that the U.S. intends to implement "the largest coordinated economic isolation in world history." Bessent stated that similar measures have worked in Venezuela and Cuba and will work in Iran as well.

**Confrontation Risks Escalation**

Iran, for its part, insists it holds more leverage. Rezaei pointed out that Iran has not yet attacked any U.S. economic interests, but if the other side imposes economic sanctions, Iran will target relevant objectives. He also warned that if neighboring countries side with the U.S. in the economic war, not a single drop of oil will flow through the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. Market analysts believe that the intense economic rivalry between the two sides could introduce new uncertainties to regional energy transportation and global supply chains.
