IREN Ltd shares traded higher on Tuesday, ahead of its upcoming earnings report and a broader cryptocurrency rebound. The Nasdaq rose 0.65%, and the S&P 500 gained 0.27%, with technology stocks leading the advance, up 0.96%.

The main catalyst for the stock's rise was Bitcoin trading near the $80,000 level. As a high-beta stock related to cryptocurrency mining, IREN is tracking the broader crypto momentum, in line with industry peers.

Upcoming Earnings Expectations

IREN is scheduled to report its fiscal fourth-quarter 2026 financial results after the market close on Thursday. Wall Street expects a loss of 49 cents per share on revenue of $142.32 million. These projections compare with earnings per share of 66 cents and revenue of $187.3 million in the same period last year. This expected shift in profitability highlights the importance of management's commentary on capacity, utilization, and future earnings stability.

Options Market Signals Volatility

Options contracts are pricing in a 12.50% post-earnings move for IREN stock, which implies approximately $1.96 billion in market value is at risk, relative to the company's market capitalization of about $15.7 billion.

IREN owns and operates renewable energy-powered data centers in Canada and the United States for Bitcoin mining and AI cloud infrastructure. The stock maintains a consensus Buy rating and trades below its 180-day average price target. In July, HC Wainwright & Co. reiterated a Buy rating and raised its price target, while Canaccord Genuity also reaffirmed a Buy rating on the stock.

Technical Analysis

IREN is trading approximately 3.9% above its 20-day simple moving average, but remains about 1.8% below its 50-day simple moving average and more than 9% below its 200-day simple moving average, indicating the larger trend is still in the process of recovery. The death cross formed in August keeps the medium-term trend lower until prices can reclaim and hold these longer-term moving averages.

Momentum is best gauged through the Relative Strength Index, which sits at 50.33—essentially neutral—suggesting the stock is not overextended and leaving room for traders to react in either direction around current levels.

Key resistance: $43.50

Key support: $37

IREN price action: At the time of publication Tuesday, IREN shares were up 5.78% at $42.11.
