Johnson & Johnson received U.S. 510 regulatory clearance on Monday to launch MONARCH QUEST 3, the latest software version of its robot-assisted bronchoscopy platform.
The update aims to enhance clinical confidence in complex airway procedures and marks the fourth release of the MONARCH system in the past 18 months, underscoring the company's clear drive for continued medical innovation.
Advancing Robotic Bronchoscopy Technology
The MONARCH system is the first flexible robot-assisted platform designed to help physicians visualize and access patient airways for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
With the QUEST 3 update, the healthcare company addresses anatomical changes and CT-to-body deviations that frequently occur during clinical interventions, providing physicians with precise control and a stable operating range.
AI and Imaging Upgrades
The software version introduces AI-driven nodule segmentation, enabling clinicians to automatically generate precise nodule boundaries with a single click before surgery.
It also deploys software enhancements to improve navigation accuracy when patient anatomy shifts.
Additionally, a new 3D Compass overlay simplifies scope tip orientation by aligning joystick movements with patient anatomy. The software also expands compatibility with mobile and fixed cone-beam computed tomography imaging systems, allowing healthcare facilities to better target pulmonary nodules using existing imaging infrastructure.
Integrating a Digital Ecosystem
MONARCH QUEST 3 integrates Polyphonic, an open digital ecosystem developed by Johnson & Johnson. This integration extends surgical intelligence beyond the operating room.
Clinicians can review procedural volume data and collaborate with colleagues through a centralized video library.
Polyphonic organizes each case into a consistent format, making it easier for medical teams to revisit key moments and support continuous learning.
Stock Performance
JNJ share activity: Johnson & Johnson stock rose 0.58% to $272.68 at the time of Wednesday's data release.
