Jupiter Neuroscience Inc. shares surged Friday morning after its affiliated biotech partner PharmAla Biotech Holdings Inc. announced a series of corporate updates, including a newly granted U.S. patent.

Here's what investors need to know.

Jupiter Neuroscience shares hit a new high today. What's behind the JUNS surge?

New Patent Expands Intellectual Property Portfolio

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted PharmAla U.S. Patent No. 12,679,817, covering cost-effective, scalable manufacturing processes for single-enantiomer MDMA and MBDB compounds. The patent strengthens the intellectual property foundation for PharmAla's lead candidate, ALA-002.

Jupiter Deal Triggers Strategic Shift for APA-01

These updates follow a July 2026 agreement in which PharmAla granted Jupiter Neuroscience exclusive U.S. rights to ALA-002. Citing the deal as proof of its ability to directly monetize assets on favorable terms, PharmAla exercised its option to terminate a proposed licensing transaction with Restora Neurosciences for its APA-01 compound.

PharmAla retains full ownership of APA-01 and plans to directly evaluate future internal development and co-development pathways.
