Kioxia Announces Third Wafer Fab in Japan, Partners with SanDisk to Expand NAND Flash Production

To address surging AI data center demand and global supply tightness, Kioxia will build a third wafer fab at its existing base in Iwate Prefecture, partnering with SanDisk to expand production of high-end 3D NAND flash memory, positioning itself in the premium storage segment. The project will seek Japanese government subsidies. Analysts note that with this expansion, Kioxia has likely secured long-term customer contracts covering at least through 2028, with ample financial resources.
