Ministry of Commerce: Expand Applications of Brain-Computer Integration and AI in Elderly-Adapted Products

Seven departments including the Ministry of Commerce issued implementation opinions on expanding and upgrading commodity consumption. The opinions state that R&D of key technologies and core components should be strengthened, and applications of technologies such as brain-computer integration and artificial intelligence in elderly-adapted products and rehabilitation assistive devices should be expanded.

Promotion of quality products from the "Catalogue of Recommended Products for the Elderly" should be intensified, with exoskeleton robots, electric wheelchairs, smart mattresses, and other products, as well as health monitoring, incontinence care, transfer, and bathing assistance devices, being introduced into elderly households. A certification system for silver-haired products will be explored. Commercial and trade circulation enterprises are encouraged to set up dedicated sales zones for elderly-adapted products, promoting their availability in supermarkets, hotels, communities, hospitals, pharmacies, and elderly care institutions.
