Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Bank and Multiple Banks Complete Stablecoin and Cross-Border Payment Pilot Experiment

On October 16, according to an official announcement from Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Bank, Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Bank, in collaboration with Mitsubishi UFJ Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Mizuho Bank, and TISI Corporation, completed a pilot experiment on joint issuance of yen-denominated stablecoins and optimization of cross-border payments from July 17 to 23, 2026.

The experiment, supported by the Financial Services Agency's "Fintech Pilot Experiment Hub - Payment Advancement Project," verified the feasibility of a multi-bank joint stablecoin issuance model and explored the potential application of blockchain technology in international remittances and inter-corporate payments. The results showed that the issuance and circulation of stablecoins are operationally viable, providing important references for the future social implementation of digital payment services and blockchain-based financial assets.
