PANews, October 10 - According to Wccftech, Musk stated that his led Terafab manufacturing project will have the capability to produce 1 terawatt of computing power, but semiconductor experts point out that this goal is difficult to achieve. The industry emphasizes that the entry barriers for chip manufacturing are extremely high, and achieving stable yield rates at Terafab may be more difficult than sending Starship to Mars. A senior executive at Samsung revealed that the strength of the chip manufacturing industry depends on knowledge accumulated over years through the complex process of continuously improving yield rates. To bring equipment to mass-production yield levels and maintain the optimal combination of process steps requires at least 30 years.
Hanwha Securities analyst Park Joon-yong in South Korea believes that Terafab aims to provide chips for applications ranging from aerospace to autonomous vehicles and robotics. Intel's chip production experience is crucial for Tesla and SpaceX, as it can help Terafab rapidly develop production systems without spending significant time developing technology from scratch.
