The meeting marks a rare joint appearance by Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, Altman of OpenAI, and Huang, leader of Nvidia.
Musk will deliver remarks via video on September 1 alongside David Sacks, former White House AI chief, and Dina Powell, president of Meta Platforms Inc. Huang and Altman are scheduled to speak in person the following day.
The event aligns with the Trump administration's broader strategy of courting Silicon Valley leaders, as the government seeks investment commitments and aims to shape AI policy ahead of the G20 leaders' summit in December.
Sacks and White House technology adviser Michael Kratsios have co-chaired the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. According to a Reuters report from March, Huang and Meta's Mark Zuckerberg are also members of the council.
Recent joint appearances by Musk, Altman, and Huang have been rare. Last September, both Musk and Huang were absent from a high-profile White House dinner that drew more than 30 tech executives. Musk said on social media that he had received an invitation but was unable to attend.
Meanwhile, according to Fortune magazine, Huang has developed a preference for smaller, one-on-one meetings with government officials rather than large-scale group settings.
The three have crossed paths before. In May 2025, Musk, Altman, and Huang joined Trump at an investment forum in Saudi Arabia. Huang detailed plans to supply Blackwell chips to the kingdom, while Trump announced a Saudi investment commitment partly tied to AI infrastructure.
Next week's North Carolina meeting offers another data point for tracking how the most important figures in AI align with the White House on policy.
This year, Nvidia and Tesla shares have both moved on news related to the political proximity of Huang and Musk. Remarks from the meeting could ripple through chip and AI infrastructure stocks.
Federal contracts, advanced chip export rules, and the ambitions of Musk's Starlink and SpaceX are all closely tied to the government's tech agenda, giving this meeting more market significance than a typical policy roundtable.
