Musk: Starlink Half-Price for Residents Near Louisiana Starship Base

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said the company will offer discounted Starlink satellite internet service to residents near its upcoming Starship launch site in Louisiana.

Starlink 50% Discount

In a post on X on Thursday, the official Starlink account said residents of Vermilion Parish would be eligible for a discounted residential plan. According to the Starlink website linked in the post, Starlink said: "We offer a 50% discount on Starlink residential service plans."

Starlink said customers need to do nothing—just enter their address to confirm eligibility, and the discount will automatically apply to new and existing customers. Starlink said: "For new customers, no upfront hardware cost is required."

"So long as your service address remains in an eligible area, the discount will continue. Starlink may stop offering this discount to new customers at any time." Musk quoted the Starlink post on X and said: "Residents around the Louisiana Starship base can all enjoy half-price Starlink."

Starlink also said that as long as the address remains in an eligible service area, the discount will continue. The discount can also be shared with friends and family. Starlink said: "They may qualify for the same regional discount, and your referral credits can be redeemed for cash or service credits."

Starlink offers three residential service tiers. The first is the residential 100 Mbps plan at $55 per month. The residential 200 Mbps plan costs $85 per month, while the top-tier residential Max plan is $130 per month. After the discount, the actual prices drop to $27.50, $42.50, and $65 per month, respectively.

$3.5 Trillion Revenue and Falcon 9 Retirement

The announcement comes as Musk recently predicted that SpaceX could generate $3.5 trillion in revenue by 2033 after the Louisiana Starship spaceport becomes operational. That forecast is seven years earlier than investment bank Morgan Stanley's projection for the same revenue figure, which it expects by 2040.

Separately, SpaceX has also ended Falcon 9 Starlink launches from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, saying future launches will be conducted by SpaceX's Starship rocket.
