Okta Inc's second-quarter results significantly exceeded expectations, delivering substantial returns for traders using leveraged ETFs. The Leverage Shares 2X Long OKTA Daily ETF surged nearly 54% on Thursday, with Okta's stock price rallying in tandem.
Okta shares jumped over 28% on Thursday after the company reported revenue of $805 million, up 11% year-over-year, surpassing the market consensus estimate of $793 million. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $1.05, also beating the expected $0.97.
Okta's Q2 Results Beat Across the Board
Management also raised its full-year guidance for the second time this year, now projecting fiscal 2027 revenue between $3.216 billion and $3.226 billion, and guiding Q3 revenue in the range of $813 million to $817 million.
Analysts responded by raising their price targets. KeyBanc increased its target from $180 to $190, Guggenheim from $162 to $188, and DA Davidson from $165 to $190.
The strong performance extended to Okta's emerging AI agent security business. New products accounted for 30% of contract bookings, with management noting it has signed dozens of AI agent deals, including a multi-million dollar contract with a Fortune 50 healthcare company. Analysts noted that the average deal size for AI agent transactions is larger than traditional contracts.
OKTG Amplifies Okta's Post-Earnings Move
This scenario is translating into amplified gains for OKTG. The ETF is designed to deliver 2x the daily performance of Okta. It carries an expense ratio of 0.75% and rebalances daily.
This move highlights both the appeal and the risks of single-stock leveraged ETFs. A sharp single-day gain in the underlying stock can produce significantly larger percentage swings in a 2x product.
However, leverage resets daily, meaning OKTG's returns over longer periods may deviate significantly from a simple 2x multiple of Okta's cumulative returns.
OKTG Price Analysis
At Thursday's release, OKTG shares were up 54.09% at $40.08. The stock is trading at a 52-week high and was among the biggest gainers on Thursday. This notable surge reflects strong bullish sentiment among investors.
The current price sits well above recent trading ranges and historical averages, indicating robust momentum. The stock has surged past its previous 52-week high of $37.11, which now serves as a key support level. If the price pulls back, this level could provide a foundation for buyers to re-enter.
Thursday's trading volume reached 200,000 shares, showing rising interest and participation in the stock's move. Elevated volume often accompanies significant price movements, reinforcing the validity of the current trend. Continued volume increases could further support upward price action, while declining volume might signal a reversal or consolidation.
