CFO Claire McDonough to Step Down in October After Six-Year Tenure

Friday's early selloff followed a formal announcement that Chief Financial Officer Claire McDonough will step down on October 30 to pursue new opportunities and relocate to the East Coast to be closer to family.

McDonough joined Rivian in January 2021 and played a central role in guiding the company through its $13.7 billion initial public offering, building its capital management framework, and driving cost-reduction initiatives.

She will remain in her role for the next two months to ensure a smooth transition with CEO RJ Scaringe during the ongoing ramp-up of the Rivian R2 platform.

Interim Leadership Appointed, Executive Search Underway

To maintain operational continuity, Rivian announced that Vice President of Finance Derek Mulvey is expected to serve as interim CFO following McDonough's departure.

Mulvey joined the electric vehicle maker from JPMorgan in 2021 and has worked directly with Scaringe and McDonough on financial planning, capital allocation, and strategic partnerships.

The company confirmed that a formal executive search process is underway, evaluating both internal and external candidates to determine a permanent successor.
