Robinhood Markets Inc. shares traded higher on Wednesday, driven primarily by momentum from its newly launched Robinhood Chain blockchain platform.
CEO Vlad Tenev's comments on a global "tokenization supercycle" further supported market interest.
Tenev Pushes for Stock Tokenization
In an X post published Tuesday, Tenev stated the financial ecosystem is in the "early stages of a global tokenization supercycle."
Tenev noted that despite growing interest, tokenized stocks have not yet launched in the United States. Robinhood introduced tokenized stock products for European customers last year, covering blockchain-driven equity in private companies such as OpenAI and SpaceX.
Tenev confirmed these stock tokens are fully backed by underlying securities and offer dividend exposure.
Calls for US Regulatory Progress Tenev urged US policymakers to "move quickly" to modernize financial rules. He added: "It would be a strange outcome if the rest of the world could build the future of ownership around American assets while Americans themselves are left behind."
Meanwhile, the US Securities and Exchange Commission is preparing a framework to provide qualifying companies with a regulatory sandbox "innovation exemption" to trade tokenized securities under lighter compliance conditions.
Broader Market Ambitions
During last month's Robinhood second-quarter earnings call, Tenev expressed a desire to expand retail stock market access.
He noted the company seeks a "sustainable" foundation for cryptocurrency and views the CLARITY Act as a step toward that goal.
Key Levels to Watch for HOOD Stock
At current levels, HOOD is trading 0.8% below its 20-day simple moving average and 6.2% below its 50-day simple moving average, keeping medium-term trend pressure tilted to the downside. Meanwhile, it sits 5% above its 100-day simple moving average, suggesting the pullback so far is more of a "reset" than a "breakdown."
The longer-term picture is mixed: the 50-day SMA remains above the 200-day SMA, but the price is currently 3.6% below the 200-day SMA, a common "proof" zone for trend followers. Zooming out, the stock has fallen 14.86% over the past 12 months, well below its 52-week high of $153.86, so a rebound could encounter overhead supply from previous buyers looking to get back to breakeven.
From a level perspective, traders are watching closely nearby reference points that can define intraday risk.
Key resistance: $93.50
Key support: $93
HOOD price action: At the time of Wednesday's release, Robinhood Markets stock was up 2.28% to $93.49.
