SanDisk Corporation on Thursday disclosed a major investment in Japan, in partnership with Kioxia Corporation, a subsidiary of Kioxia Holdings Corporation.

The company plans to invest more than $31 billion, approximately 5 trillion yen, by 2032, subject to government support.

Details

The investments will support the continued expansion of infrastructure at the Yokkaichi and Kitakami plants, as well as related infrastructure and technology, in line with market trends.

The two companies said they will continue to advance technology to meet growing demand in an increasingly AI-driven, data-centric world.

The partnership is expected to further solidify their 25-year-long relationship, which over the past quarter-century has driven NAND flash innovation and involved investments of more than $50 billion, approximately 9 trillion yen, in Japan.

SNDK Technical Outlook: Key Levels and Momentum

From a trend perspective, SanDisk remains in a long-term uptrend, with shares trading 52.9% above their 200-day moving average, but the medium-term trend is more choppy, with shares 8.6% below their 50-day moving average. This combination of "long-term bullish, medium-term cooling" is reinforced by the 20-day moving average sitting below the 50-day moving average, a bearish crossover typically seen during consolidation phases.

Momentum appears more range-bound than extreme: RSI stands at 48.64, essentially neutral, indicating that neither buyers nor sellers are clearly in control at this point. In plain terms, RSI helps gauge whether a move is overextended; readings near 50 typically correspond to sideways trading and sharp fluctuations around key moving averages.

Key levels are fairly clear, with the stock currently trading near its 100-day moving average, close enough to make it a "watershed" for trend followers. A breakout above the 50-day moving average zone would improve the short-term chart setup; a break below would shift focus to the next demand zone.

Key resistance: $1,696.50 — a recent ceiling that aligns with the stock's struggle to reclaim the 50-day trend zone

Key support: $1,325.00 — a recent bottom that marks the prior buyer defense zone if the pullback extends

Tech Sector Strength vs. SNDK Underperformance

SanDisk underperformed its tech sector peers today, falling 1.29% while XLK rose 2.93%, a gap of 4.22 percentage points. This is notable because the tech sector currently ranks first among the 11 sectors, meaning the stock is moving against the market's strongest sector.

Looking at a longer timeframe, the sector is up +9.99% over the past 30 days but down 1.49% over the past 90 days, consistent with a "recent rebound within a choppy quarter" backdrop. When a sector attracts this level of buying, laggards either become candidates for catch-up trades later or may be signaling stock-specific caution that persists until the chart reclaims key moving averages.

SNDK Earnings Preview and Analyst Price Targets

Looking ahead, the stock's next major catalyst will be its earnings report, expected on November 5, 2026.

EPS estimate: $46.01

Revenue estimate: $10.67 billion

Valuation: P/E ratio of 20.3x

Analyst consensus and recent actions: The stock has a Buy rating with an average price target of $2,190.50. Recent analyst adjustments include:

Sandisk's Ranking in Momentum and Value

Here is Sandisk's Edge scorecard, highlighting its strengths and weaknesses relative to the broader market:

Momentum: Bullish — even with today's pullback, the stock continues to show strong relative strength versus the broader market.

Value: Weak — the stock is expensive under this model, so price action may matter more than "cheapness" for entry timing.

Conclusion: Sandisk's Edge signals reveal a momentum-driven story with strong trend support but weak value characteristics, which could amplify volatility when market sentiment cools. For long-term holders, the key is whether the stock can reclaim its 50-day moving average without losing the $1,325.00 support zone.
