Shin Zu Shing Screens Only Golden Samples for iPhone Duo Hinge Supply

Taiwanese precision parts maker Shin Zu Shing is currently screening only golden-sample hinges that meet Apple's standards for supply to Apple's foldable-screen phone iPhone Duo, with related production still unstable. Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo locally on the 9th, and unstable hinge production is the biggest factor delaying the production schedule. The original first supplier was US-based Amphenol; due to low yield rates, second supplier Shin Zu Shing was moved to first-supplier status for production. Shin Zu Shing's hinge yield remains low, with only products passing standards being shipped to Foxconn. Backplate supply is also tight, with second supplier China's Lingyi iTech encountering mass-production difficulties. Apple has provided partners with a parts production estimate of roughly 5 million to 6 million units by year-end. Pre-orders begin October 16, with a release date of October 23. Prices start at $1,999 for 256GB and go up to $3,199 for 2TB.
