SK Telecom Spins Off AI Data Center Business into New Entity "SK Horizon," Plans to Attract $2.2 Billion External Funding

August 29 news, according to Yonhap News Agency, South Korea's largest mobile carrier SK Telecom announced it will spin off its AI data center (AIDC) business into a new independent entity, "SK Horizon," and plans to attract a total of 3.08 trillion Korean won (approximately $2.2 billion) in external funding. The spin-off transaction is expected to be completed on February 1, 2027, with global private equity firm KKR and a consortium of IMM Investment and Stonebridge Capital potentially participating in the investment.
