On November 3, according to Yonhap News Agency, South Korea's Unification Ministry stated today that regarding U.S. investigative authorities pointing to North Korea as the mastermind behind the Binance hacking incident, the current priority is to accurately ascertain the situation. A ministry official said the information came from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and information has not yet been shared among relevant South Korean government agencies.
Regarding whether South Korea will participate in additional international sanctions against North Korea, the official stated that response measures should be studied with relevant agencies after the situation is clarified, and there is currently no need to discuss additional sanctions. Previously, Kim Yo-jong, director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, issued a statement calling the designation of North Korea as the mastermind behind the Binance hack a "serious political provocation" and warned that North Korea would re-examine the hostile attitude of the United States. Yonhap noted this is the first time Kim Yo-jong has responded to international accusations of North Korea's illegal cyber activities.
