StarkWare co-founder and CEO Eli Ben-Sasson said Starknet, an L2 relying on Ethereum's underlying security, is considering multiple options including a transition to L1 to independently manage its network security migration process and address cryptographic risks posed by quantum computing and AI. Starknet, built on ZK-STARK, features cryptographic agility and has already formulated a post-quantum security migration roadmap. Ethereum plans to achieve full L1 quantum resistance by the end of 2029, while Bitcoin has not made a similar commitment. Starknet expects to complete the relevant upgrade as early as 2027.
