Mastercard shares traded higher on Monday, with recent financial disclosure filings showing that U.S. President Donald Trump's investment account purchased millions of dollars worth of the company's stock during June.

The Nasdaq fell 0.79%, while the S&P 500 declined 0.22%.

• Mastercard stock is moving on the upside. What is driving the MA share price higher?

Shift Toward Core Traditional Stocks

Financial disclosures from August 2026 showed over 1,000 high-volume securities transactions reported in June alone, with trade values ranging between $78.1 million and $263.1 million. For Mastercard, the estimated value of three June purchase transactions ranged between $1.2 million and $5.5 million, based on the transaction ranges disclosed in the filings.

Trump Account Buys Large-Cap Stocks

Trump's investment account purchased large positions in Berkshire Hathaway, Visa, Mastercard, and Cintas during June. Meanwhile, the largest single transaction reported in the disclosure was the sale of $5 million to $25 million worth of the Vanguard Dividend Growth ETF.

Trump reported total 2025 business income exceeding $2 billion.

MA Technicals: RSI Overbought, Near 52-Week High

The chart remains firmly bullish: Mastercard trades above all major moving averages, including approximately 4.5% above the 20-day simple moving average and roughly 12.8% above the 200-day simple moving average. This spread matters because it shows buyers are willing to pay higher prices on pullbacks rather than waiting for a deeper mean reversion.

Momentum is the primary near-term concern: the Relative Strength Index stands at 72.60, which places the stock in overbought territory, increasing the likelihood of a pause or shallow pullback even as the broader trend remains intact.

The larger trend backdrop remains constructive following the August golden cross, with the price now hovering below the 52-week high of $601.77.

Key resistance: $598.50 — a pivot point near the 52-week high zone, where a breakout could stall.

Key support: $556 — a prior demand zone, also closer to the rising short-to-medium-term trend structure.

MA share price performance: At the time of Monday's data release, Mastercard stock was up 2.69% at $596.25.
