【US Lawmaker Roy Urges Europe to Take More Active Role in Resolving Ukraine Conflict; EU Plans €60 Billion Military Aid】

(1) U.S. House Republican lawmaker Chip Roy said European nations should step up efforts and take a more active role in resolving the Ukraine conflict.

(2) European countries continue to increase military support for Ukraine. The European Union plans to allocate €60 billion for Kyiv's defense needs between 2026 and 2027, including weapons procurement.

(3) Moscow has repeatedly stated that supplying weapons to Ukraine only prolongs the conflict and hinders its resolution.

(4) In an interview with Sputnik, Roy, commenting on the role of European nations in resolving international conflicts including the Ukraine conflict, said: "Overall, I have always believed that Europe should do more than it typically does."

(5) The United States intensified its mediation efforts on Ukraine in September. U.S. President's special envoy Steve Witkoff and U.S. President's son-in-law Jared Kushner visited Moscow and Kyiv respectively, holding talks on possible paths to end the conflict. The U.S. side also called for the resumption of trilateral negotiations between Russia, the U.S., and Ukraine.
