Vail Resorts Inc. reported mixed fourth-quarter results on Monday.
The company reported a quarterly loss of $5.34 per share, missing the analyst consensus estimate of a $5.23 per share loss. The company reported quarterly sales of $278.068 million, beating the analyst consensus estimate of $271.626 million.
CEO Rob Katz said: "For the ski industry, this past winter was one of the most challenging in the history of the American West, which negatively impacted full-year financial performance. Conditions in the Rockies were particularly severe, with snowfall and snowpack at or near historic lows and significantly below the previous record-low snow season, resulting in the most difficult weather environment we have ever experienced. Against this backdrop, the past year demonstrated the resilience of our business model and encouraging signs for the future. Our advanced commitment model and cost discipline provided considerable stability, and our investments in people, technology, and resorts drove record guest satisfaction scores and strong employee engagement, all key indicators of our success."
