PANews, November 3 - According to Bloomberg, at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority's Global Financial Leaders Investment Summit, Wall Street executives stated that capital markets will continue to finance the construction of global AI infrastructure. Morgan Stanley CEO Ted Pick expects cumulative AI spending over the next decade could reach $15 trillion, with the largest hyperscalers potentially investing $800 billion to $1 trillion annually over the next 7 to 12 years. Pick noted that we are currently roughly in the third inning of a nine-inning game.
Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon said that as investors assess the surge in AI and computing power demand, capital markets still have the capacity to absorb it, and financing needs will be strongly met. However, he cautioned that technology super-cycles rarely advance in a straight line, and the main constraint on deal size is the cost of capital rather than the availability of funds. Pick expects long-term returns to be sustainable, with productivity gains potentially boosting U.S. real GDP growth by 50 to 70 basis points annually. Solomon also stated that AI accountability should ultimately rest with individuals rather than systems.
