Webull Corp. shares rose on Wednesday, climbing alongside a broader cryptocurrency rebound that tends to boost trading activity on its platform, with the company also set to report second-quarter results after today's market close. Here's what you need to know.
Webull shares are firmly higher. Why is BULL stock rebounding?
Crypto Strength Often Boosts Webull's Trading Volume
Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies rebounded on Wednesday as falling Treasury yields improved investor appetite for risk assets, with sentiment further lifted by expectations of President Donald Trump's planned meeting with crypto executives at the White House and U.S. regulators moving toward a clearer framework for digital assets.
This rebound has a direct impact on Webull, as the company offers cryptocurrency trading alongside other brokerage services. When crypto prices surge sharply, it tends to draw more retail traders back to platforms like Webull, pushing up trading volume and reigniting investor enthusiasm that cooled during quiet periods for digital assets. This dynamic appears to be driving Webull's stock higher alongside today's broader crypto moves.
Webull to Report Second-Quarter Results After the Close
Beyond today's crypto-driven rally, investors are also looking ahead to Webull's second-quarter report, due after today's market close. Analysts expect adjusted earnings per share of 3 cents on revenue of $181.26 million.
These expectations are based on the first quarter, where Webull's revenue rose 36% year-over-year to $159.9 million, with trading-related revenue growing at the same pace. However, costs grew even faster than sales.
Total operating expenses increased 68% from the prior-year period, which the company attributed to enhanced marketing and branding efforts, higher brokerage and trading costs stemming from surging trading volume, and a larger stock-based compensation bill. Excluding one-time items, adjusted operating expenses still rose 64% to $145.1 million.
