Webull Corp. shares moved higher in Thursday afternoon trading, as momentum from its strong second-quarter earnings report continued to drive investor demand.
Webull stock was among the best-performing names of the day. What is driving BULL shares higher?
Earnings Estimate Revisions and Regulatory Tailwinds Fuel Rally
Market sentiment continues to be supported by Webull's second-quarter earnings report released last week, in which the company posted revenue of $198.8 million and adjusted operating profit of $62.6 million for the quarter.
The growth was partly driven by record trading volume following FINRA's elimination of the Pattern Day Trader rule on June 4, which previously required a minimum equity of $25,000 for day-trading margin accounts. The removal directly unlocked active trading for Webull's core user base.
On the earnings call, Webull President and CEO Anthony Denier called the rule change "the defining event of the quarter," noting that "the removal of the PDT rule is the standard going forward... trading volumes will not return to pre-PDT-removal levels."
Meanwhile, an SEC Form 4 filing dated August 25 confirmed that Denier sold 53,848 shares under a pre-arranged Rule 10b5-1 trading plan, a routine insider transaction that was quickly absorbed by the market during Thursday's session.
Management Commentary Highlights Global Scale and Technology Expansion
During Webull's second-quarter earnings call, Denier emphasized how international expansion and platform upgrades continue to broaden the company's addressable user base outside the United States:
"Our record second-quarter results reflect the strength of our global platform and continued product execution... As regulatory changes lower the barrier for active retail traders, Webull remains uniquely positioned to capture market share with advanced execution tools, expanded asset classes, and localized international offerings."
