SK Hynix shares rose nearly 5% in premarket trading on Friday, after the South Korean memory chipmaker suspended the U.S. initial public offering plan for its flash memory subsidiary Solidigm.
The rebound came amid weak broader market performance. Nasdaq futures fell 0.28%, and S&P 500 futures fell 0.44%.
According to Reuters, the company abandoned the proposed listing, which could have raised up to $15 billion and valued Solidigm at $150 billion.
The decision eased concerns that a separate listing would affect existing shareholders' interests. However, it also deprived Solidigm of a potential source of expansion capital.
SK Hynix Pauses Solidigm IPO Amid Market Volatility
In a statement on Friday, SK Hynix said the decision does not reflect any changes in Solidigm's growth prospects or investment needs. The company cited market volatility and a broader pullback in the semiconductor sector.
SK Hynix said it will continue to review investment plans and financing options to support Solidigm's growth.
SK Hynix's premarket gains suggest investors are attempting to buy the dip after the stock fell sharply from its September highs.
The rebound comes despite weak U.S. stock index futures, pointing to company-specific developments and technical factors.
The decision to pause the Solidigm IPO review may also have alleviated concerns about shareholder value and a separate U.S. listing.
Technical Analysis

The stock trades 17.9% below its 20-day simple moving average of $166.77 and 19.7% below its 50-day simple moving average of $170.44.
Both readings indicate persistent weakness in the medium-term trend.
Meanwhile, the Relative Strength Index stands at 29.81. A reading below 30 typically indicates oversold conditions and may signal a short-term rebound.
Immediate support for the stock lies near $134, followed by its historical low of $124.80.
The stock has fallen 30.43% over the past month. A sustained recovery may require the stock to reclaim key moving averages.
