Grayscale launched the world's first Zcash ETF on the New York Stock Exchange Arca on Tuesday, under the ticker, as ZEC touched an 8-year high of $867.

What is the Zcash ETF?

According to a Grayscale press release, ZCSH is the world's first exchange-traded product offering spot exposure to ZEC, the native token of the Zcash network.

The fund allows investors to gain ZEC exposure through existing brokerage accounts, without the operational complexity of directly purchasing and storing the asset.

Zcash, launched in 2016, combines Bitcoin's characteristics, including a 21 million token supply cap and a proof-of-work consensus mechanism, while offering optional transaction privacy features.

Users can choose transparent transactions or shield sender, recipient, and transaction amount information, while the network still verifies transactions.

Steve Vanourny, head of Grayscale's index business, noted in the press release that as AI reshapes how financial activity is monitored, the need for genuine financial privacy will only grow.

Analysts' Views on ZEC

Nate Geraci, president of ETF Store, noted on platform X that the world's first Zcash ETF is now live, emphasizing that its combination of a Bitcoin-style supply cap and optional privacy features is a key differentiator.

Meanwhile, Multicoin Capital co-founder Tushar Jain called Zcash "what Bitcoin was meant to be," with analyst Arjun Khemani noting this is a consensus view among many in the industry, with some now referring to ZEC as "perfect Bitcoin."

The privacy angle gains new relevance as AI surveillance capabilities expand and demand for financial privacy grows.

Additionally, Zcash completed its most recent major upgrade, Ironwood, in July 2026, making shielded transactions more practical and efficient, while enhancing resistance to certain quantum computing risks that transparent ledger designs like Bitcoin currently face.

ZEC Price Forecast: Technical Analysis

ZEC pulled back 2.5% on Tuesday after hitting a multi-year high of $867.69, a clean touch of the ascending channel line that has guided the uptrend since the December low.

The Relative Strength Index sits deep in overbought territory at 78.54, the highest reading on the chart, with previous spikes above 70 at the May and June highs each preceding double-digit pullbacks before the trend resumed.
