On August 25, crypto asset manager Bitwise launched Automated Token Portfolios (ATPs), allowing eligible users outside the U.S. to automatically replicate and periodically rebalance professionally designed portfolios via self-custody wallets. The product is based on Coinbase's tokenized stocks and executed through Glider, initially covering themes such as the "Magnificent Seven," SpaceX, robotics, and AI leaders, charging a 0.15% methodology access fee, excluding trading and platform fees.
Bitwise stated that the relevant tokenized stocks are always held in users' non-custodial wallets, without needing to transfer assets into a fund or entrust them to a manager. Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan said that ATPs allow investors to access professional portfolios without giving up asset custody. As assets remain self-custodied on-chain, users may in the future also lend tokenized stocks within DeFi protocols, but they must bear the associated risks themselves. Bitwise currently manages approximately $9 billion in crypto assets and has continued to expand its on-chain investment product lineup this year.
