According to Caixin, UAE investment firm Aqua 1 Foundation has spent $100 million to purchase WLFI tokens issued by World Liberty Financial, the crypto project of U.S. President Donald Trump's family, surpassing Sun Yucheng's cumulative investment of $75 million to become its largest buyer. The actual controller of Aqua 1 had previously been a mystery, but recently Zhou Guren, born in Shanghai, China in 1984, has emerged. He is the largest backer of WLFI tokens, with the source of his funds shrouded in mystery. Zhou Guren remains listed as a judgment debtor on China's Enforcement Information Disclosure Network, with six related cases totaling tens of millions of yuan in outstanding debts. A recent indictment from the UK's Crown Prosecution Service shows that Zhou Guren is also involved in a money laundering case in the UK. A Shanghai wood company for which he serves as legal representative has also been implicated in a smuggling case in China.
