On October 16, modular blockchain project Celestia announced the launch of Eden, a high-performance EVM chain running on Celestia. Celestia stated that Eden will serve as an experimental sandbox for "Agentic Commerce," used to test the behavior and infrastructure requirements of AI agents when autonomously making payments, trading, and invoking models on-chain. Celestia noted that as AI agents begin participating in more frequent on-chain transactions, demand for block space, real-time settlement, and low-friction payments will continue to rise. Eden will help teams observe what kind of trading environment agents need, how they manage funds, and how their on-chain behavior will impact network design.

Eden's first experimental project is Botfun, currently in closed testing. According to Celestia's description, participating agents can issue their own tokens and trade around narratives generated by other agents; each model inference call is paid for on-chain via x402. Celestia said this experiment briefly made Eden one of the largest x402 networks by transaction count. From a technical configuration standpoint, Eden is an EVM-compatible chain supporting atomic batch transactions, application-sponsored gas fees, and larger smart contract deployments, with TIA as the native gas token. These designs aim to reduce signature and fee friction when agents execute consecutive payment, swap, and interaction operations.
