According to Reuters, U.S. corporations have poured a record $517 million into the 2026 House and Senate elections over the 15 months through the end of Q1 2026, surpassing the previous high of $461 million spent during the entire two-year 2024 election cycle. The crypto, tech, and online betting industries collectively contributed at least $294 million, emerging as major forces shaping the midterm elections.

Fairshake, the super PAC primarily funded by Coinbase, Ripple, and a16z, began the year with $193 million and still holds approximately $130 million; a16z has donated over $81 million to crypto- and AI-related PACs. Elon Musk has poured in more than $90 million, while Meta has donated $65 million to four super PACs. The AI-focused organization Leading the Future has raised $140 million, and Anthropic has donated at least $40 million through dark money nonprofits. Online sports betting firms DraftKings, FanDuel, and others have contributed over $72 million.

AdImpact projects total political ad spending for this midterm cycle will hit a record $11.6 billion. These industries are making unlimited expenditures through super PACs, affiliated PACs, and dark money nonprofits for advertising, voter mobilization, and more—moves critics argue amplify the influence of niche issues such as crypto regulation, data center energy use, and betting oversight.
