Crypto infrastructure provider Zerohash has resubmitted its application for a national trust bank charter with the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), marking its second attempt after its July application was returned. Previously, the OCC returned Zerohash's application on July 17, citing "material deficiencies" in the filing. Zerohash stated that the return was an administrative process allowing it to reapply this month, conducted in coordination with the OCC, and was not a ruling on the application's merits nor did it affect the company's existing operations. The company noted that its initial application covered a "broad range of digital asset and fiduciary services," leading it to adopt a "phased" approach focused on "national trust activities more aligned with its established launch timeline." Zerohash is a Chicago-based crypto infrastructure platform providing back-end operational support for crypto businesses to institutions including Morgan Stanley's E*Trade, BlackRock, Franklin Templeton, Stripe, Interactive Brokers, and DraftKings, and already holds a state trust bank charter.
