Fogo mainnet has halted block production for approximately 46 hours since Saturday afternoon, following an attack on the Fogo Foundation that saw 4 million FOGO tokens (about 10.3% of circulating supply) transferred to an attacker's address. The foundation initially stated the chain itself was unaffected, but the network was proactively paused 15 hours later, with plans to restrict relevant addresses via an upgrade. Currently, Fogo's official explorer shows the last block at 718,525,971, RPC endpoints return 502 errors, and on-chain TVL tracked by DefiLlama has remained frozen at $987,000 for three consecutive days. This halt was facilitated by Fogo's validator design: the chain is governed by a council of 7 voting validators, with foundation stakes evenly distributed across 7 operators, enabling coordinated suspension and client-level address blacklisting within minutes. On exchanges, KuCoin and Gate have both disabled FOGO deposits and withdrawals but retained trading, with 24-hour spot volume around $2.3 million. Meanwhile, a fake Twitter account @FcgoFNDN impersonating the Fogo Foundation has posted a fraudulent compensation voting link, with Fogo officially reminding users to rely solely on official channels. Fogo is the second network to proactively halt this weekend, following Cronos' state rollback after the Tectonic lending protocol was attacked. Fogo raised approximately $7 million in January through a Binance sale of 2% of supply before mainnet launch, at a $350 million valuation. The foundation has yet to disclose attack details, compensation plans, or a restart timeline.
